Dengie Gateway Economic Development Advice

Client: Maldon District Council
Location: Dengie Peninsula, Essex
Date: 2014

Services: Economic development  | Masterplanning

As part of the Local Government Association’s Economic Growth Advisor programme we are instructed to provide economic development advice to Maldon District Council relating to the growth of the Dengie Peninsula.
The Dengie Peninsula contains a number of wonderful assets such as the high quality market town of Maldon, the sailing town of Burnham on Crouch, the WW1 Stow Maries aerodrome and even an expanding wine industry.  Alongside this, the Wallasea Island Wild Coast project is soon to open its first phase whilst the historic nuclear power station at Bradwell is being decommissioned. This landscape of issues presents a series of opportunities and challenges for the area.
Our role is to advise the Council on how Burham on Crouch can provide a focus for the economic development of the peninsula over the medium to long term, helping to mitigate the loss of employment at Bradwell and capitalise on the Wallasea Island Wild Coast project.
