South Norfolk Market Town Initiative

Client: South Norfolk Council
Location: Diss, Harleston, Loddon and Wymondham, Norfolk
Date: 2014

As part of the Local Government Association’s Economic Growth Advisor programme we were instructed to provide economic development and regeneration advice to South Norfolk Council regarding the district’s four market towns: Diss, Harleston, Wymondham and Loddon.

The regeneration and economic development of market towns in the district is a corporate objective for South Norfolk Council.  Over the last 12 months the authority has developed and implemented a programme of events, activities and training for businesses and community groups and is keen to build on that over the next few years.

Our role was to provide advice to the Council on the organisation of a programme of measures for each of its market towns, develop targeted projects and put in place a framework for measuring performance.

Specific services:

  • Detailed economic analysis
  • Quantitative and qualitative research into market towns
  • Stakeholder consultation
  • Organisational analysis
  • Development of performance measurement framework
  • Economic development and regeneration project design
