Commissioned by the YMCA, we prepared a feasibility study to design and assess a range of land use and management options for this important complex of historic buildings within the Upton urban extension in Northamptonshire.
We engaged a wide range of local groups and stakeholders to understand their needs and test the feasibility of different short, medium and long-term occupier and management models. We helped build a positive relationship between the site owner, current leaseholder, WNDC as funder and interested parties.
Our recommendations added value by establishing a flexible management model that would allow for fragile skills-based community groups to come and go over time whilst contributing to operational and management overhead.
Specific services:
Due diligence into planning policy and permission conditions, leasehold and freehold agreements and grant conditions
Individual and group stakeholder consultation
Review of comparable community learning and sustainability projects
Development and appraisal of options for ongoing management and occupation in the short, medium and long-term
Outputs:
Creation of a flexible long-term management model based on stakeholder requirements
Establishment of working arrangement between stakeholder groups to implement the project
