EVENT: Come and Discover Aylsham at the Royal Norfolk Show 2013 and WIN an Aylsham hamper!

Aylsham will take itself to the heart of Norfolk’s visitor and tourism industry this summer.

Many of the town’s businesses have joined forces so they can demonstrate to thousands of people what the community has to offer during the two days of the Royal Norfolk Show – one of the region’s premier events and the largest two day agricultural show in the country. The show will be held on June 26 and 27.

A large marquee will host a wide range of what Aylsham has to offer under the banner ‘Discover Aylsham’. Among those going are Blickling and the Bure Valley Railway, two of the leading visitor experiences not just for Aylsham but for a much wider geographical area. Slow Food, Cittaslow, Aylsham Heritage Centre and a group of shops and retail businesses from in and around the town will also be present.

The idea is to provide a hands-on experience with demonstrations of skills such as bakery and seed planting, plus a large screen showing video images of people talking about the town. The marquee will be near the Countryside Ring, number 114.

There is also a fantastic opportunity at the show to WIN an Aylsham Hamper* with prizes including dinner, bed and breakfast package at the Saracens Head, annual membership to the National Trust, 2 family tickets to the Bure Valley Railway and much much more!

Deborah Blake, chairman of the Aylsham Business and Enterprise Forum, which has organised the trip to the Costessey showground, said:

“It’s a tremendously exciting chance to show ourselves off as a destination, to showcase the town. It will be a very interactive marquee, with lots of activities alongside promotion of businesses. We believe it is very unusual, possibly even unique, for a town to take a marquee to the Royal Norfolk Show. The idea is that people come along and find out a little about Aylsham while they are at the show – and then come to discover the town itself soon after.”

The show visit is part of a wider marketing strategy for Aylsham, funded in part by some of the Portas money received by the Aylsham Town Team last year. A range of other projects are also being pursued.
