NEWS: Essential repairs to start on Brackley Town Hall

Brackley Town Council, working with South Northamptonshire Council, has recently commissioned local specialist stone masons to undertake a programme of minor repairs to the Town Hall external masonry.

The repairs, which were identified during regular monitoring of the condition of the Grade II* Listed Town Hall, will be carried out by Witney-based, O G Stonemasonry, and are scheduled to start in the next few weeks. O G Stonemasonry has a wealth of experience working with important listed buildings, with clients including the National Trust, many Oxford colleges, the Houses of Parliament and Windsor Castle. The firm employs banker masons and fixers with over 20 years of experience of working with local stones.

Brackley Mayor Chris Cartmell said:  We’re really pleased to appoint O G Stonemasonry to undertake this round of running repairs to the Town Hall.  Whilst we are likely to be undertaking further work on the building in the future, the timescale for this is much longer term and as owners of the Town Hall we must address any issues immediately that could potentially cause longer-lasting damage to the building.

Ends.

Note to editors:

The repairs are not connected to the work recently started on the comprehensive restoration of the 300+ years old Town Hall which will be on-going over the course of 2013.  Any more far-reaching work on alterations or improvements to the Town Hall will take place following a programme of community engagement and feasibility studies.
