EVENT: Wisbech 2020 consultation event

Chance to have your say about Wisbech 2020

Members of the public will have a chance to air their views on the Wisbech 2020 Vision at a consultation event being held in the town over two days next week.

Representatives from Fenland District Council, Wisbech Town Council, Cambridgeshire County Council and partners will be manning a display in the Market Place next Friday and Saturday (September 9-10).

They want people to come along and tell them  what they like best about the town at the moment and what they think most needs improving.

They will also be asking for comments on the proposal to expand Wisbech into a “garden town” – the “big idea” that could bring 10,000 new homes together with improved road and rail links and better community facilities.

Fenland District Council leader Cllr John Clark is keen for as many people as possible to have their say.

He said: “A lot has been achieved since the Wisbech 2020 vision was launched nearly four years ago. We want to highlight the progress that has been made and hear what people think about the future of their town.

“We don’t have unlimited resources so we need to make sure that we focus our efforts on what local people feel is most important in terms of improving their lives and those of their children.

“We hope people will come along on these two days and tell us how they think that together we can make Wisbech better.”

People will also be able to comment in an online survey that will be launched at the same time.
